Welcome to my first official BLOG
from the USA.
February 11, 2011
I can't believe I have been here for almost a month. For those of you who are unaware, I am currently in the USA living in Augusta, Georgia. I am living with a golf performance coach by the name of Caleb Scorsone. We made contact several months ago while I was still back in Australia and he and his family have been very kind to open their home to me.
As I said before, I have been here almost a month. The purpose of coming here was to pursue a playing career with the goal for this year being to compete in the US PGA Tour Qualifying School later in the year.
Not long before 2010 came to an end, I was unfortunate enough to break a bone in my hand. Whilst to most this sounds terrible, I have found the time off to be therapeutic and has helped me to work on other aspects of my golf game, and also my personal life.
After my first week in Augusta, Caleb and I travelled to Orlando, Florida, so he could spend some time with some players that he works with on the mini tours. During this time, I had a chance to spectate at one of these events and meet a few of the players. We also visited the PGA Show which was amazing. There was so much there to see that even 4 hours of walking around wasn't near enough time to see everything. Whilst at the PGA show, Caleb was involved in some meetings with Fuzion Golf, a company which boasts the latest and greatest golf technology, so big that last week Donald Trump went there to get fitted for a set of clubs. Anyway, as a result of these meetings, Caleb has been asked to work for Fuzion Golf bringing to the table his Performance Coaching and knowledge in AimPoint. Next week Caleb and I are moving to Jupiter, just 2 hours south of Orlando where Fuzion Golf is based, for him to start working with the company. I am also making the move with him to be in a better location for golf, given the much nicer weather and golf courses in the area.
As for my hand, the rehab is coming along nicely. With the cold weather we are currently experiencing in Augusta I am experiencing a little bit of pain still, but the good news is that I am back hitting golf balls and I have even had a round of golf. Since getting back from Florida, I came down with a cold and I am still not 100%, but I am getting there. I have also been to the gym a few times which has been great. I'm sure that once we get to the warmer climate in Florida things will get back to normal.
As far as the golf goes, Caleb and I have done some work on the mental side of thing (this is his area of expertise) which has opened my eyes up to a new world of thinking. I am looking forward to getting into the full swing of things when we get to Jupiter and the start of my playing schedule later this month.
That's all for now folks. Happy golfing to you all and all the best for 2011.
